Industrial techno and noise collide for a midweek throwdown.

Konvektion steps up for a Tuesday night party ahead of the Vernal Equinox national holiday, bringing a heavyweight combination of techno and noise to Contact. Guided by two pillars of Japan’s techno scene, DJ Yazi and Takaaki Itoh, the Studio X floor will explore the darker, industrial side of techno with a special guest in the form of Function.

Dave Sumner has been immersed in underground techno culture since the 90s, when he was a key fixture at legendary New York club The Limelight. He formed Sandwell District with pioneering UK techno maverick Regis, and has since gone on to become an integral part of the Ostgut Ton / Berghain family in Berlin. For more than 20 years he’s been constantly on the frontier of techno, moving with the times and never afraid to experiment.

On the Contact floor, Fumitake Tamura will be donning his BUN guise to explore a rich variety of head-twisting beats, tapping into the downtempo, hip hop template and moulding it intowild, expressive new musical forms. Alongside him are two live acts: 夏の大△ will exploit their custom-made gears to generate less-is-more tonal experiments while sofheso will weave raw materials into angular broken grooves. They will be joined by Koba, a drone-heavy DJ that brings adventurous auditory experience across the frequency spectrum. Expect a chaotic space teeming with ear-scratching textures and tones.
