The prodigious Detroit house producer celebrates his new LP

Over the past five years, Jay Daniel has proven himself to be one of the brightest talents in the more recent wave of artists emanating from the celebrated musical legacy of Detroit. Having emerged on Theo Parrish’s Sound Signature label in 2013, Daniel has gone on to deliver distinctive variations on the house music formula for labels like Apron, Wild Oats and his own Watusi High. His debut album, 2016’s Broken Knowz, was the perfect culmination of his earlier EPs, following a free-spirited approach to beat programming and sampling rooted in the legacy of his home town, but with something vital and original to impart.
Now Daniel is presenting his sophomore record, Tala, and will come to Contact to celebrate its release with a turn on the decks that promises to feature the same adventurous rhythmic attitude and deep-rooted soul you can find embedded in his own productions.
On the Contact Floor, the wide-ranging British artist Nabihah Iqbal (formerly known as Throwing Shade) will present her alternative take on 21st Century dance music, complementing the visionary spirit of the music that will be heard across the club on this unmissable night.
